Catherine Knollys dress

Description

And here we have my "sister" playing with a dead...tail...thing...

I can't take credit for Paulie's ensemble on the right, but I did do the lions share of the work on the dress on the left.

So officially this year Britt played my "sister" Mistress Catherine Knollys and she needed a dress of her own. She selected the fabrics, I patterned the skirts, bodice and sleeves (there are two sets) and I helped her sew about 85% of it together. She did the beading and trimmed out the sleeves herself. Another friend made the French Hood.

The fabric is a poly-cotton blend with a subtle diamond pattern woven in. The forepart and sleeves are embroidered silk, with a few freshwater pearls scattered on the sleeves. The bottom of the skirt has a velvet guard, the same velvet is on the cuffs of the sleeves. We were under the gun and put the vast majority of it together in two long days.

I absolutely love this dress. I have recently joined the Fischers, IN faire group and I hope to see you when we come visit Bristol!! I know you said you did not make the hood, but do you know what pattern was used on it. I have looked a few patterns, and none have quite the same shape as this one.
