This was my first Elizabethan, and the birth of Anne Hastings. Lady Anne Hastings is my Elizabethan persona at the Michigan Renaissance Festival (MIRF), and she was a real person. I've nick named this gown "The Red Dress of Doom!" and despite the mistakes since it was my first, I love this dress the most. It is made from about 9 yards of red velveteen. The trim is black and gold jaquard ribbon, and on the sleeves is black velvet ribbon in three different widths. I didn't have my normal forepart that day, you can see that with the 2005 gown. I also put another shot of this gown in the scraps section, in that picture you can get a good look at the sleeves and the forepart.

I don't get to wear this dress much anymore which makes me sad, I lost weight so it doesn't really fit all that well, but I am planning on remaking the bodice and bringing it back at least once for sometime in 2006.

Oh, and the dashing Rogue with me is my friend Keith, AKA ~rapierkit AKA Kit Hawke, Earl of Mountjoy. It was sort of a fluke that these two coordinated so well, but I love the way this photo turned out.

This dress is absolutely gorgeous! Please excuse my ignorance, but what is the sort-of heart shaped object on a string you are holding? I'm in absolute awe at your dressmaking skills. Renaissance fairs seem like so much fun; there aren't many around "these parts."

Oh, sorry, I'm sort of new to this so I forgot to mention it. That is called a pommander--basically it is a perfume ball (and in my case in its old life it was an x-mas ornament). The idea was it helped you smell better or could hide the smells of your surroundings. I hope that answers your question.

Actually, this is probably the dress that will come out for our little court invasion of Mayfaire. Of course, I still need to get it back from Kit's wife. I think I have just enough of the pirate brocade left to make a new forepart for this dress. *Yay*

Ok, I didn't realize that was your dress she was wearing! I remember seeing her and going, wow, that looks so much like Anne's dress! LOL!

It is huge on me now, and she is even smaller than I am. I think it took about a dozen safety pins to get it so it sort of looked like it fit. Still, there were some cute pictures of her and Keith that day. Sadly, I don't really have any of them.

I still think your red dress is just lovely. I think it's my fav of your gowns thus far, though the one you wore to MRF this past season was really nice too.
